Plot: The Coming of the Age of X

Professor Charles Xavier is dead. Killed by his closest and most trusted student. After a long, drawn out battle with Magneto, Xavier was forced to attack his dearest friend mentality; wiping the mind of Magneto before he could unleash a weapon to devastate mankind. While he stopped Magneto and his followers of Acolytes and the Brotherhood of Mutants, Xavier was left weakened - both spiritually and mentally. He retreated to his home in Salem Center, NY, to recover and mourn the loss of his friend. In his condition, Xavier was vulnerable. The combined consciousness of Charles Xavier and Magneto created an alternative ego of extraordinary power and rage: Onslaught.

As Onslaught, Xavier assaulted the Institute, attacked his students and friends, and left the X-Men torn apart. At the climax of the confrontation, Cyclops stood alone against his mentor. The rest of the X-Men defeated, either too weak to continue the fight, or in the worst cases, barely alive. Angry, betrayed and heartbroken, Cyclops was forced to fight against the only father figure he had known. Left with no other option, Cyclops unleashed the full power of his optic blast and struck down Onslaught, saving his teammates but killing Charles Xavier.

The school was saved but the X-Men would never be the same again. Many of the members left the team and the school, too grief-stricken to remain and in search of a life of peace that they had long fought for. A few were furious with Cyclops and blamed him for Xavier’s death. They left to join other forces or just to get away from Cyclops. Fewer stayed by his side as he vowed to continue to fight for Xavier’s dream. He rebuilt the Xavier Institute and with the help of his few remaining have reopened the school to help new Mutants learn to control their powers. Taking on the role of headmaster Cyclops teaches new mutants the Xavier dream of Human-Mutant Coexistence. The need for the X-Men is still there and too few members remain. So Cyclops and his friends seek to reform the team with mutants from the Institute once they are ready.

The time of Xavier and his Uncanny X-Men is over. The Age of the X has just begun...

The threat continues....

Even without the leadership of Magneto, the mutants who followed him are still out there. Without Magneto to unite them and lead them, the Brotherhood clashed with his more recent followers, the Acolytes. Both groups claimed superiority over each other and the right to fill Magneto's role of savior for mutants against the tyranny of humans. On Magneto's mutant only island of Genoa have, the two groups clashed. In the end, the Brotherhood turned away from the Acolytes, abandoning them and and Genosha as the governments of the world launched their own attack on Genosha.

Returning to their roots in America, the Brotherhood has gone underground. They now operate in secret, seeking to bolster their own ranks with new mutants while disguising themselves as a bordering house in Salem Center, New York. From there they can keep an eye on their old enemy, the X-Men and recruit mutants to join them to continue Magneto's fight. A few of the Brotherhood' smember have also dispersed. Some left because they lost hope without Magneto, some even left before the attack of Genosha to join Cyclops at his new Institute.

As for the Acolytes, no one has seen or heard from them since the destruction of Genosha. Popular belief is that they perished in defense of their island. A few amount the Brotherhood and X-Men keep a wary eye out for any sign of survivors. The Acolytes were some of the most fanatical and powerful features Magneto's followers. If any survived, they will surely seek revenge on both groups.

The Age of X is an alternate universe from the traditional X-Men stories that began in 1963. Their history is vast and would be very difficult to go over every detail. below is a list of events/plots that have or have not happened in the Age of X. If you are looking for a specific event not list, please PM the Admin.

• M Day: The will of the Scarlet Witch that brought the mutant population to near extinction, did NOT happen. This will mean that the Messiah Complex and follow up story arcs also have not taken place.
• A vs X: The coming of the Phoenix Force and the battle between the X-Men and Avengers did NOT happen.
• Executioner's Song: The battle for the future and the past between Cable and his clone, Stryfe, DID happen.
• Fatal Attractions:The battle between the X-Men and Magneto DID happen. However, there are CHANGES to it that created the Age of X-Men. See the story of the Site above for the details.
• Phoenix Saga and Dark Phoenix: jean Grey's coming to power with the Phoenix Force, her death and subsequent return DID happen.
