As if a SWAT team would be enough. Margot smirked, betraying the fact that she found the idea amusing. "No ma'am I don't. I've never met anyone in The Brotherhood."
The fact that they called themselves The Brotherhood of Mutants had never been released to the media. Only the government big wigs, and mutants, were privvy to that information. She was confessing herself to be a fellow mutant. Another hint to make her doubt herself.
"You be careful out there. That badge won't protect you from the people who hate us."
She got in the car and closed the door. Maybe Robyn would call her. Maybe to follow up on the case. Maybe to talk to another mutant. Maybe in the course of that conversation she could be convinced to enforce for someone new.
"I haven't beaten a man with his own leg since Carter was in office...but I still remember how." -Raven Darkholme
James mentioned the Brotherhood just before his arrest and this woman seemed far too interested in what would happen if she was Mystique. The woman got in her car and closed the door before she could ask anymore questions. Robyn pulled out her notepad and wrote down the license plate number. There may not have been any evidence against the woman but personally, she found the woman to be a little suspicious. Personal feelings were not a reason to apprehend someone. But, with the info she got, hopefully it was enough to keep an eye on the woman.
The officer went to her squad car and grabbed the police tape. She began to close off the property, so detectives could gather more evidence to use in the trial.
The well-dressed man in the tailored business suit stood just outside of the police area. He had arrived only just after New York’s finest and watched the scene with almost complete apathy. It didn’t matter to him who was responsible nor why. Human or mutant. No, Lucien Graves’ agenda remained his alone and he simply found the events that had transpired to be fortuitous at best. Fate’s fickle hand at worst.
Lucien Graves watched the woman the police had released go with little care for details. She didn’t matter to him. What he had wanted, was now in the custody of the police but the mutant known as Pyro could wait. It was the other one that piqued his interest now. The female officer who had bested one of Magneto’s oldest soldiers.
Stepping past the police vehicles as if he belong there, Lucien Graves strolled casually toward the house where the officer was busy setting up her police tape. “Excuse miss,’ his voice dripped with charm, “Officer. Could you tell me what has happened here?”
He reached into his suit jacket and produced a bone white business card. With the easiest of efforts, he altered the appearance of the card to fit his needs. “I’m with the Homeland Security Committee. I have just a few questions for you.”
Robyn finished closing off the property as she was approached by a man in a suit. She had never seen him before and he seemed oddly curious. Unless he was a witness, she didn't see why this would be of interest to anyone else, but people were curious creatures. She turned to him.
"This is a crime scene. We took a man into custody suspected of setting fire to the house across the street, injuring its residents," said Robyn. The detectives were on their way.
She looked at his card. Of course any mutant related crime would catch the attention of Homeland Security. She nodded in compliance."Of course Mr. Graves," said the officer, figuring she'd have to give a statement. The officer certainly did not expect Homeland Security to get involved right away. They were certainly working fast.
His smile was poison. Hypnotic in it's charm, deadly in it's results. Lucien stepped past the officer and into the room, dipping below the tape she had just set up. He looked about the house casually. It was unremarkable, like any other human dwelling. But he had recently learned the identity of the mutant who had hidden here. What he wanted was to find the rest of them.
"So, Officer," Lucien leaned in to squint at her uniform, "Watson. Tell me about the mutant who was here."
Typically she could not tell just anyone this information, but he was an official so she told him what she knew. "I don't know much about him, but he seems to have an ability to control fire," said the woman, as she remembered the screams her partner gave as his face was burned. It had to take manipulation to cause that...or a flame thrower, but she didn't see a flame thrower in that mutant's hand. "He mentioned a group called The Brotherhood," she stated. She had heard of them in her years at Xavier's Institute for Gifted Youngsters as a youth, but not everyone knew who they were. "He showed concerned that one of the most wanted mutants in the world Raven Darkholme was here trying to recruit him, but I found no evidence of that."
That was all she said as she didn't know much more than that. The detectives would do the job of investigating the house. A couple of the detectives walked in and began their investigation as she talked to the gentleman in front of her.
