Physical Description:
Cyclops stands 6'3", weighs in at 195 lbs of toned muscle, with brown hair and brown eyes that glow red with his power. His features are stern and chiseled, and his posture is that of a man who has carried a great many burdens and become a better person through all of it. His eyes are always covered by a ruby quartz lens which takes form of either his x-visor or a pair of sunglasses when he is among the human population.Personality Demeanor:
Cyclops is a natural strategist and born leader. He has been trained to stand up for those who can't and knows the difference between making the easy choice and the right choice. Scott is a devote follower of Xavier's dream of Human-Mutant harmony and is willing to die for it. Over the years, he has suffered many hardships and risen above them. Cyclops sees the X-Men as the protectors of the mutant race and has no issue in speaking out against injustice.
Scott is brave, self-less, and a first-rate tactician and leader. He has a very low self-esteem however, holding a low opinion of himself and obsessing over his shortcomings and failures. As a leader, he is very strict and no-nonsense, demanding seriousness, dedication and skill, usually earning him the dislike of more rebellious team members
Mutation:
Cyclops possesses the mutant ability to project powerful beams of heatless force from his eyes, which act as extra-dimensional apertures to a source of pure energy. Cyclops constantly absorbs ambient sunlight into his body's cells, metabolizing the energy in order to open the apertures.
Cyclops' mind generates a psionic field that is attuned to the same forces that maintain the apertures. This field envelops his body, protecting him from his own power. Even the thin membranes of Cyclops' eyelids are sufficient to block the emission of energy, allowing him to contain power by simply closing his eyes. The synthetic ruby quartz crystals used in the lenses of Cyclops' sunglasses and visor are resonant to his minds' psionic field, making them the only substance that can effectively block his blasts.
The width of Cyclops' optic blast is controlled by his mind's psionic field. As Cyclops focuses the apertures in his eyes are altered to control the flow of energy and the power of the beam, which is filtered through his visor.
The maximum force of Cyclops' blasts is unknown, but a commonly given description is that they can "punch holes through mountains", and he has been shown rupturing steel plates and pulverizing solid rock. It has been stated that Cyclops uses only a fraction of his vast potential energy output. His more powerful optic blasts can demolish fully-armored tanks, severely damage Sentinels, and obliterate entire icebergs.
Though the extra-dimensional energy supply of Cyclops' blasts is practically infinite, his own stamina is not. He can exhaust himself by projecting too much energy for a continuous rate, resulting in his blasts weakening in power. So long as Cyclops's psionic field is active (which is constantly) there is the potential to emit energy, with the only limit being the mental fatigue of focusing for an extended period.
Flaws:
Scott also has a plethora of mental issues, bottling up his emotions and refusing to confront his issues, despite this affecting him adversely.
Due to psychological trauma and a head injury, Cyclops is unable to shut off his optic blasts and must therefore wear ruby quartz lenses at all times to block the beams.
Hobbies & Aptitudes:
Spatial Awareness: Cyclops possesses an uncanny sense of trigonometry, in this sense used to describe his observation of objects around himself and the angles found between surfaces of these objects. Cyclops has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to cause his optic blasts to ricochet and/or reflect off those objects in a trajectory to his liking. This is commonly called a "banked shot" when applied to this talent. Cyclops has been observed causing beams to reflect from over a dozen surfaces in the course of one blast, and still hit his intended target accurately. It is his sense of superhumanly enhanced spatial awareness that allows him to perform these feats as well.
Expert Pilot: Cyclops is an expert pilot of fixed-wing aircraft, a skill he shares with his father. It has also been implied that his trigonometric sense improves his abilities in the air.
Expert Martial Artist: Cyclops also has extensive training in martial arts and unarmed combat, holding black belts in judo and aikido. His level of skill is sufficient to defeat six normal men with his eyes closed, and he has in the past held his own against dangerous hand-to-hand enemies such as Wolverine and Ghost Rider.
History:
Scott Summers is the oldest son of Major Christopher Summers (AKA Corsair), a test pilot in the U.S. Air Force and his wife Katherine Ann. His younger brother is Alex, known today as the mutant Havok.
When Scott and Alex were boys flying home from a family vacation in their father's vintage private plane, a scout ship from the alien Shi'ar Empire suddenly materialized and set the plane ablaze. Katherine pushed Scott and Alex out the plane door with the only available parachute. The parachute caught fire, so Scott used his mutant optic blasts for the first time to slow their descent.
As one of the original X-Men trained by Professor Xavier, Cyclops has become a figure of the Xavier Dream. He has spent his life fighting to protect a world that both fears and hates him. After many clashes with the Brotherhood, Cyclops began working on new strategies and training routines to better combat the x-Men's enemies. After years of working together, Cyclops pursued a romantic relationship with Jean grey and the two eventually married.
During the Genosha Crisis against magneto and his combined forces of Brotherhood and Acolytes, Jean Grey sacrificed herself to help save the X-Men. Her death prompted Xavier to erase Magneto's mind, ending the threat forever. Or so they thought.
back in Salem Center, Xavier suffered from the combined personality of Magneto and his own. The result was Onslaught and the devastation of the X-Men. In the last hours of the cnflict, Cyclops was forced to kill Xavier. From the ashes he has risen as a great leader and headmaster of the rebuilt Xavier Institute and the new X-Men.
