Physical Description:
Cable is a giant of scar, muscle, and metal. He is a mountain of a man standing at near seven feet tall, weighing a monstrous three hundred and fifty pounds even. Cable's body is mostly a bulk of muscle, however is noticeably part machine as well thanks to the life-threatening techno-organic virus that is telepathically held from consuming the entirety of his flesh. Cable has piercing sky blue eyes, however the left eye is cybernetic (like most of the left portion of his body) and glows a bright golden hue, and stark white hair.
Personality Demeanor:
Cable is self sufficient, serious, stern, and merciless. He has lived the entirety of his life as a soldier, a living weapon that is in constant motion to save the world and the people in it. Like his father, Cable is a strong strategic leader and is entirely selfless. As far as similarities to his father, Scott Summers, that is where it ends. Cable doesn't waste time worrying about himself or obsessing over lost causes, he is willing to do whatever it takes to secure a victory and deals with the repercussions later. Cable considers himself a loner in his quest to right wrongs and prevent the destruction of the world, which is deeply ironic considering he has time and time again allied himself with other individuals and multi-member teams.
Traveling through time Cable has witnessed and been a part of horrible things, he's seen extreme suffering and that can take a toll on a man. However, through it all, Cable remains hopeful of the future, largely because he is proactive and steps in to steer the path of the future into a better and safer one. As he's witnessed a number of timelines devoted to the imprisonment and extermination of mutantkind Cable is deeply vested in the survival and protection of his fellow mutants. He doesn't subscribe to the Magneto brand thinking of mutant superiority, nor does he overly strive for peace and harmony between humans and mutants like Xavier did, Cable simply wishes to end the prejudice and torment.
Mutation:
Cable is a powerful telepath and telekinetic. With his telepathy Cable is able to read and wipe minds, construct psychic shields, astral project, and a host of other abilities. However Cable very rarely relies on or even uses these abilities as he has a preference for being more physical. Though Cable possesses very high-end telekinesis it is very seldom seen in practice as most of that is spent telekinetically preventing the spread of the techno-organic virus from taking over the right side of his body like it's done the left. Cable's telekinesis allow him to generate psionic weapons, force fields and powerful psionic blasts that cause mental harm but no physical damage.
Cable's telekinesis also affords him intuitive aptitude, which is the capabilities to disassemble an object and almost instantly learn its inner-workings and then make that object whole again. This works on devices as well as examining and assessing the workings of organic matter, going as far as discerning the atomic weight of molecules, the presence of disease, as well as the control of the virus that infects him which is what aids in keeping it from spreading.
The Techno-Organic virus inside of Cable is designed to completely replace organics with cybernetics, however it has prevented from completing that job leaving Cable with something of an added bionics mutation. Almost his entire left side has been taken over by the techno-virus and in an attempt to prevent that from going much further Cable has telekinetically fortified his body against the TO virus' advances, resulting in super strength as well as a superhuman level of durability and stamina. The TO virus has replaced his skeletal structure with a marrow-filled organic metalloid, that does not prevent or hinder red blood cell production, which makes it pretty difficult for him to break anything.
Along with his skeletal system the TO virus has also revamped Cable's central nervous system, replacing it with a bio-computer enhancement to produce a highly increased sense of reflex and reaction time. This also makes Cable's perception of pain different, while can still feel and be hurt most instances of pain are incredibly short-lived.
Cable's left eye and arm have both been turned completely cybernetic. His eye is able to peer along the entirety of the electromagnetic spectrum, which means gamma rays, x-rays, ultraviolet light, infrared, microwaves, radio waves, and frequencies today's technology has not yet witnessed. Cable's left arm is far stronger than the right, he can lift several tons with the left alone with no assistance from the right.
His telekinetic ability to rearrange matter and control of the virus that infects him makes it possible for Cable to perform accelerated self-healing. When damage is taken dealt to the cybernetic components of his body Cable is able to skillfully and rapidly repair the damaged areas. This ability/mutation is not effective against heavy damage taken and instead would require outside help to fully repair him.
Flaws:
Cable has no qualms about killing to reach his endgame. While he is not a homicidal maniac on a rampage who murders indiscriminately, he does not shy away from the fact that in war lives will be lost. It is this merciless and seemingly coldhearted attitude of his that rubs more than a few the wrong way. The man from the future is not a people person and he isn't out to make friends, this allows him to be more upfront and blunt than most, often speaking his mind and unafraid to hurt feelings in the process.
Cable is forever on a mission and usually that mission takes precedence over all other things in his life, his dedication to preventing the worst from occurring means a general lack for rule following. While Cable won't necessarily make others expendable to him, he does believe that some things are acceptable to justify the ends, he isn't above manipulating others to get the results he desires.
He is said to be an alpha level mutant, one of the most powerful telepaths and telekinetics, however his powers never truly get the chance to be fully displayed or weakness for the large amount of focus he must pour into them in order to keep his techno-virus in check.
Hobbies & Aptitudes:
Above average intellect: Cable actually holds a law degree, he also attained higher education from the Clan Askani which is far more advanced than modern education, especially in sciences.
Munitions expert: There is virtually no weapon Cable cannot use or is not proficient with. Guns, knives, plasma cannons, explosives, etc.
Master Combatant: Cable has mastered a number of fighting techniques and martial arts of the modern age as well as future centuries. As a life long soldier he is extremely skilled in tactics, armed and unarmed combat, and guerrilla warfare.
History:
Nathan Summers, aka Cable, has lived through hell, marching through one war after the next. His conception started out no better. The genetics-obsessed supervillian Mister Sinister at some point discovered that a union between Scott Summers and Jean Grey would bring forth a powerful and genetically superior supermutant, something he had long been after. Unfortunately for Sinister at this time Jean Grey was believed to be dead, so he opted for the next best thing and cloned the Phoenix Force host. Sinister named his clone Madelyne Pryor and orchestrated a meeting between her and Scott Summers. Seeing an uncanny resemblance to his lost love Scott quickly became infatuated with Madelyne.
To Mister Sinister's joy the two quickly married, and eventually Madelyne Pryor would give birth to a baby boy. The boy was named Nathan Christopher Charles Summers, "Nathan" from an implanted memory from Sinister (as his own real name was Nathaniel), while the Christopher and Charles are from Scott's biological father and his "adoptive" father, respectively. Scott and Madelyne's union was not trouble free and Scott's undying love for Jean only made things worse, creating resentment within Pryor. It all went to hell when Jean Grey was discovered to be alive. In the aftermath Scott left his wife and son, Sinister sent the Marauders to kidnap Nathan and kill Madelyne Pryor to cover the fact that she was a clone, she survived and eventually became possessed by a demon, ending up killing herself over resentment for Scott and Jean while also hoping she'd take Jean with her. In Madelyne's death Jean received her memories and together with Scott tried to raise infant Nathan.
Scott took to taking his son on missions with him, which in turn lead to Nathan being abducted by ideologists under the command of Apocalypse, who was in fact the reason Mr. Sinister had created Nathan in the first place. Apocalypse infected his future nemesis with the techno-organic virus to kill him, Nathan only survived in thanks to a protective electromagnetic shield. Sister Askani of the Clan Askani arrived 2,000 years in her past to save Nathan, claiming he would be a savior in her time and that it was the only place where he could be cured of the Techno-organic virus. With a heavy heart Scott agreed, aware that Sister Askani could only make a jump to the future and thus Nathan would never be able to return, and sent his son off into a distant future timeline.
By time they arrived in this future world, that was ruled by Apocalypse, Nathan's entire left side had been overtaken by the Techno-organic virus. He was placed in a special incubation crib to protect him but the Clan Askani was sure that he would not survive, so in desperation they cloned him. As only bad things seem to happy to Nathan Summers, this clone was then kidnapped and raised by the evil Apocalypse, he would take to calling it Stryfe. Beating the odds Nathan survived in his incubation chamber as he unconsciously used his developing mutant powers to keep the virus from taking his entire body.
From that day on Cable had been raised to fight. He eventually defeated the Apocalypse in his time, but he would find further purpose in traveling to different times and fixing issues that sprang up in various timelines. He's met his parents, saved the world, clashed with his adult clone, teamed up with a Merc with a Mouth, and defeated Apocalypse a number of times. Even in so-called times of peace Cable knows that war is always on the brink, and he is always ready.
When Cyclops struck down Onslaught, killing Charles Xavier in the process, Cable was deeply conflicted. On the one hand he knew it was an absolute necessity for the survival of the mutants, but on the other hand a direct result of Xavier's death meant a great danger for all life on Earth. The X-men would divide, Cyclops would forge unlikely alliances, and from this chaos a new threat would change the landscape of the world as we know it. Cable is dedicated to preventing this, by any means necessary.
First Appearance:
Anything with an X-man, really. I imagine he'd need to talk to Cyclops about the future *ominous*
