Taji Lokhanderaju
Rakshasi
Ekasha is the player of this character, Fenn and Mort.
female | 34 | Xmen | teacher
Height: 5'8 Weight: 125 lb
Human form : Hair: black Eyes: black Skin: brown
True form : Hair/fur : black Eyes: red Skin: black
The form she masquerades as her 'true self' is that of a pretty young Indian woman, generally unremarkable, except for the gloves she wears continuously to cover the claws that accompany almost every form she takes.
Her true form is rather monstrous, consisting of a large black jungle cat's head attached to a human body. Her skin is black, and her eyes are red.
Each animal form she takes tends to be dark in colour, and always possess feline claws if they possess hands or paws.
Personality Demeanor:
Grateful for the second chance she has received, Taji has taken a more quiet and thoughtful approach to life. She is forgiving, and slow to anger and philosophical. Thought it is a side that students seldom see, they occasionally whisper about rumours that she is a formidable opponent in hand to hand combat. Her voice still carries a hint of a London accent.
Few at the Institute have seen Taji's "true form"
Mutation and Flaws:
Simply put, Taji is a shapeshifter.
Though she cannot shift into the form of another human, she can take the shape of any vertebral animal in the world. However, there are limits to the details she puts into the animal she changes into: Though a human may not recognize that the pigeon nearby is not actually a pigeon, the local flock definitely notice that there is something not quite right about that bird. Each form she takes tend to possess her feline claws, and dark fur colour.
Also, constant shifting tends to take a lot out of her, and she often requires rest after repeated shiftings. When Taji is unconscious, she reverts back to her natural form.
Hobbies & Aptitudes:
In her natural form, Taji is extremely strong. During her previous 'rebellious' years, Taji used it to her advantage, learning boxing and various martial arts. Combining them with strategic shiftings, Taji became a skilled unarmed combatant.
In recent years, Taji has become more contemplative. She used her years in prison to pursue a degree and now teaches Biology and Natural History.
History:
Born in a village in southern India, Taji's parents could only hide her true appearance for so long before the more superstitious members of the village had her cast out as a Rakshasi: a demon from legend. Finding that she could not stay anywhere for long, she began traveling more and more often as the local wildlife, than as human. She did, eventually, wind up in the city, where she managed passage to England, sneaking onto a ship in the form of a rat.
In England, she settled in London, in human form, for many years without anyone discovering her true form. She took a job as a clerk, got education, an apartment, friends. However, she did let slip her appearance, and found herself cast out once again, losing her job, her friends, her place in the world, but this time, to the label of 'mutant'. Once again, she boarded a ship in the guise of a rat, this time to North America.
By the time she had arrived in New York, experience had taught her not to settle anywhere. She would squat in empty apartments, and steal what she needed to get by. She nursed a certain amount of resentment to normal humans, and generally avoided their company. When she had to, Taji would use her human form as her 'true form', though, she referred to herself as 'Rakshasi', having taken the word as her own name. Falling in with a cell of the Brotherhood of Mutants, Rakshasi was overjoyed to finally find friends who accepted her for who she was, and eagerly accepted their politics and plan to 'liberate' other mutants from the oppressing Homo Sapiens.
This viewpoint changed. Their first plot, a plan to break into a nuclear power plant to steal uranium went south, a battle ensued, a fire broke out, and while the other mutants attempted to escape (they didn't), Taji refused to leave the unconscious humans, and rescued them from the fire, though she was beaten down and arrested.
Taji went to prison. She didn't stay long, though. Rumour has it that a lawyer hired by a mutant named Sony worked tirelessly to secure her freedom. Even though she had no information to offer authorities about the Brotherhood, and even with the enormity of her crime, Taji was out within a few years. Offered a chance to start over at Xavier's Institute, Taji took the opportunity to live a quiet life. She often advises young mutants to do the same.
