Physical Description:
Sierra would best be described as athletic. She has dark eyes and keeps her brown hair cut short. She has a preference for the practical, which is usually reflected in her appearance.
5'6", 108 lbs.
Personality Demeanor:
Sierra is always in a slow burn. Her powers are closely linked to her emotions, and she gives the impression that she is constantly seething with anger just under the surface. Her frequent fits of anger result have dangerous consequences.
Mutation:
Sierra is a psionic and psychokinetic. She is able to spontaneously generate psychic forcefields. These fields can be shaped into nearly any form, and can move through space at her direction.
Her psionic projections can interact with her surroundings in the same fashion as solid matter or plasma at her discretion, or manifest purely as psionic energy.
Extended concentration over a sleeping target (while touching them) allows her to influence the nature and themes of their dreams, as well as inducing a comatose state for a duration of her choosing, up to and including a permanent vegetative state, which may sometimes be reversed by medical means. She observes the dreams during the process, and can use them to explore the subconscious of the victim and learn things about them. She can inflict psychological damage on the victim and even memory loss. At it's most intense, she can produce complete amnesia.
Theoretically her "dreamwalking" can be used therapeutically, but she's never tried.
She is not a true telepath, and cannot enter the minds of targets who are awake.
As pure psionic energy, her projections interact only with electrical and psychic systems, including the human nervous system. They can inflict intense pain or unconsciousness with short term memory loss. They also tend to disrupt electrical devices, and permanently damage computers.
As manifestations of plasma, they produce precisely focused intense heat capable of burning or melting most normal substances.
As physical manifestations, she can produce razor edges. The relative strength and density of her projections varies depending on the size. She is able to produce a six foot hemisphere roughly the relative strength of six inch stainless steel plate.
She is able produce manifestations as complex as silhouettes of animals.
She can casually lift around 80 pounds with her projections, and can with some effort use them to augment her physical strength and extend jumps, though she cannot fly.
Her range, without strain, is roughly ten feet. Beyond that she risks injury. Though she has pushed herself to up to a hundred yards at the cost of complete mental exhaustion.
Flaws:
Her powers are closely linked to her emotional state, and she does not have complete control of them yet. Intense emotions cause spontaneous psychokinetic manifestations of which she does not have conscious control. She has on many occasions severely injured people as a result of losing her temper, and had them fail to produce anything useful when she is afraid.
When "dreamwalking" she engages in a contest of wills with the target. Sometimes she loses. If the subconscious of her target succeeds in completely rejecting her influence (even if they were willing while conscious) she risks psychological injury. If her victim is capable of lucid dreaming, they will immediately recognize her influence as coming from an outside source. If the victim is a telepath, they may completely turn the tables.
Hobbies & Aptitudes:
She is adept at hand to hand and melee combat, especially with her psionic projections, manifesting various forms of bladed weapons.
She is also above average proficiency with various firearms, and has considerable survival, endurance, and combat training. While her mutation does not grant any physical enhancements, she is at the peak of physical health and is nearly an Olympic class athlete.
Mystique personally taught her a little bit about infiltration tactics. She uses these tactics to great effect. Her modus operandi is infiltrating a facility, using her projections to render the occupants unconscious and erase their memory of her presence, and take what she needs without anyone knowing she was there. If what she needs is information from a person; no need to abduct them for interrogation, simply put them in a coma and question their subconscious mind.
She has an interest in architecture both as a practical science and an artform.
History:
She was raised by her parents and her grandmother. Her grandmother did not approve of her "unladylike" personality and interests, and was extremely psychologically abusive. By the time she was a teenager, she was utterly convinced of her own uselessness.
She dreamwalked for the first time while sleeping with a high school boyfriend, Peter. They both considered the random occurrence of shared dreams to be only a novelty and a sign they were "meant to be".
She enlisted into the military straight out of high school, believing she had no other prospects and couldn't possibly continue her education or make a career as an architect. Her relationship with Peter continued.
She saw the military as a way to escape her family, and at first she enjoyed it. Military training slowly built up her self confidence, and her suppressed powers began to manifest, first during hand-to-hand combat training, where she found that focusing her will on a spot where she was about to take a hit, it wouldn't hurt, and when she put her focus on a strike, she could send an opponent to the floor with a tap.
On her first deployment her powers were discovered by others, when a wall of red light stopped a hail of bullets, saving her and another soldier.
Within hours an unknown branch of the US government arrived with the stated intention of taking her from her unit for a "special project" which they refused to define. When she resisted, they attempted to take her by force. She escaped, fleeing to Genosha, where she immediately encountered the Brotherhood. Mystique explained that the Us government was engaged in experimentation on mutants (largely for military purposes) and used this idea to induct her into the Brotherhood.
Over the following months she learned about the nature of her powers and certain new skills through which to apply them. She had never been allowed to fully express herself, first because even a childhood temper tantrum had resulted in draconian punishments from her family, and then because the military expected conformity and obedience.
As she learned to fully manifest her psionic potential, the emotions to which they were connected also rose the surface. Her temperament became increasingly unstable. By the time of the Genosha incident she'd accidentally injured several members of the Brotherhood, and Mystique was reaching for a solution.
She was separated from the other members of the Brotherhood during their conflict with the Acolytes, and was still on the island when it was attacked. She barely escaped with her life, once again evading the government elements who seek her.
Having no means of contacting the Brotherhood, she made her way home. Her confession to Peter, who had been told she was missing in action, was met with anger, fear, and rejection. They fought, and when she left him she was not certain of the extent of the mental damage done to him by an unintentional flare of her psionic powers. She carries the guilt of the fact that she's not certain he'll even wake up.
She ran to Africa and found her way to one of the more unstable nations there, reasoning that the lack of any cohesive government would protect her, and her military background might find her some work, not caring which side she had to be on.
First Appearance:
Caleb can come retrieve her from some burned out hole of a town where everyone carries assault rifles.
