The heat on Africa was searing and even the wind was hot an uncomfortable. The Dark Continent, the humans had once called it. If only they had known the truth of that statement. This was a place of death. Where the natural order of predator and prey was strongest. It did not surprise the mutant in his jeep that it was so close to hear that Magneto had decided to build his empire. If only the Master of Magnetism had known how close he was to a true empire.
Lucien smiled darkly to himself. If the gather of a mutant community off the coast of Africa had not stirred it, then he would be safe travelling across the continent alone by himself. He checked his map and pulled the jeep down a rough dirt path that led to a small village. The village, by whatever name the humans called it, had recently been turned over by the local warlord. His men had burned the white man's church and executed the missionaries living there. It was all so....insignificant to Testament. The slaughter had not been enough to test the warlord or his men.
What did matter to him, however, was the mutant he had learned was hiding here. The soldiers at the entrance to the village stopped the jeep only long enough to wish they hadn't. Driving the jeep was the very warlord who they served, and so they quickly raised the gate and let the vehicle enter. Lucien stepped out onto the dusty ground, straightened his suit jacket and surveyed the village. If he were a mutant caught in this human squabble, where would he hide?
